You have heard of climate change, but what about another, equally important challenge? A growing number of energy experts believe the world has arrived at, or will soon arrive at, the peak of oil production worldwide. This means prices at the pump may keep rising, with far-reaching impacts, and that we need to get along with less oil even as our growing world demands more. We are concerned about what this challenge — dubbed peak oil — means for our life in Walla Walla.
We see some hope!
We see hope and opportunity in becoming a self-reliant community through conservation, cooperation, and education. Here's what we can do:
This website is a hub for addressing these challenges together. Here you can:
- read what we have learned
- add your name to a petition to create a community-wide sustainability task force
- access resources for sustainable living.
- there is even more we can do together in person.
